Medical Certificate

I hereby certify that I have attended Mr. B. C. S. La C. Jammal from the 14th of August 1960, to the present date, for severe attacks of ague, and congestion of the Liver and spleen, diseases produced by his residence in China and although much benefited by the active treatment he has undergone, I am fully persuaded his health is not sufficiently re-established, to justify his return to the tropical climes. I would therefore strongly advise a delay until the fall of the year on the ground that his arrival would be at a more healthy season, and his Constitution fortified in the interval by prosecution of that treatment, which of late has improved his sanitary condition.

I feel it my duty to add that the repeated attacks of Ague that Mr. Jammal has been subject to, have damaged his constitution and I am confident that a premature return to the clime that engendered his maladies, could not fail to be productive of very serious Consequences, and I fully concur in the opinion I have expressed that it is doubtful whether he ever will enjoy health in China.
